Christians: Who goes to heaven and who goes to hell?

If I murderd or raped someone will I still Go to heaven if I accept Jesus Christ as my saviour? But if I help homeless kids, save lives and be kind and contribute to society, but not accept Jesus, I will go to hell? And God wouldn't even care for what I for humanity? He will torture me just because I'm an atheist?
