If a girl is raped as a child will she develop normally once reaching puberty?

Sorry if this question is uncomfortable in anyway, but i just found out that my girlfriend ( now 20) was raped by her cousin when she was 6 years old, and it happened a couple of times after that. My question is does sexually abusing a child before puberty cause physical effects to their body when reaching puberty? Or does it just temporarly affect them for that moment in time. I guess what im trying to say is since she was raped at 6, is her vagina perfectly normal and healthy inspite of being abused at such a young age, or are their any common side effects that effect her permanetly. And by side effects I mean physical side effects. I just want to have some peace of mind about the whole thing because I keeping thinking about her and what she had to go through...I just need to know if all traces of what happened are long gone, and if her body has physically purified itself from it.
