Red split lentils expiry date!?

Like pasta they seem to have an almost infinite shelf life provided they have been stored in a cool dry place. They take about 25 minutes to cook so that will destroy any chance of bacterial food poisoning. They can, however, go a little musty if they are a couple of years over. Best just smell them - if they smell OK, I would use them.
