Why is every main female character on Dexter such a bich?

I only finished season 2, but one woman sleeps and cheats to get ahead. One gets men thrown in jail by lying about how they raped her. One curses in EVERY sentence and has huge penis envy. The other refuses to help her husband, gets him killed and constantly complains about everything.
